Fictional Boyfriend #52

Before I begin this post, just know that I am going to spoil this book. I don't care. This is my blog and I think this is probably one of the best endings of a book that I have ever read in my life.

Shiver has now become one of my most favorite books of all time. I recommend it to EVERYONE. I don't care what your preference in book is... this one has left me completely blown away.

Sam is amazing. I think he is a perfect boyfriend. Haha I'm not going to lie. This guy has it all. He smells amazing, he knows the right things to say, he composes his own lyrics, he's good-looking, he reads books (HUGE plus in my book :P), etc. Also, there's the fact that he's a werewolf. Now you can be like me and be happy that these creatures don't exist. I mean I would rather have a human boyfriend will all these qualities instead of a werewolf boyfriend or vampire boyfriend because I would always be afraid to lose them. I know the human boyfriends that are semi-perfect don't happen very often, but then again, how often do werewolf and vampire boyfriends? Haha :P I'm just messing with you girls out there that love these characters.
But I'm not going to lie. Sam is amazing. Whether he's a wolf or a human.

The candy scene was probably my favorite scene in the book. Sam takes Grace, the girl he's in love with, to the candy store in his hometown and has her close her eyes and just smell the store. He tells her to think of each individual smell so that she can end up loving it all. And Grace comments on how they look like the picture perfect cute couple and I think that would be a fantasy that many of us would like. I mean seriously? Candy stores are awesome and Sam is a genius for taking her there.

Maybe I should state how Sam and Grace came to be Sam and Grace :P
So Grace was attacked by a pack of wolves (later to find out they are werewolves) and then Sam, who she figures out quickly has unique yellow eyes, doesn't let the wolves keep feeding on her. He pulls her out of there and makes the rest of the pack leave her alone. From then on, he always watches her from a distance. In the winter, he watches her as a wolf and then in the summer, he works at the bookstore and watches her when she walks in to there. He is always hoping that she will recognize his yellow eyes.

Then Sam gets shot by these hunters that are trying to lessen the wolf population of the woods and he turns into a human again... although the winter is quickly approaching. This is very out of the ordinary. Grace helps him and they end up falling even more in love with each other, but this time it's right. They both get to love each other when they are BOTH human :P Haha

I'm going to post the end of the book now. I know that is HORRIBLE, but honestly, this moved me in to thinking about how much I LOVE this book.
For those of you who have read this book, yay cuz I sure hope you love this part as much as I do.

"She froze. Perfectly still, like a deer. I kept approaching, making hesitant, careful prints in the snow, until I was out of the woods and I was standing right in front of her.
She was as silent as I was, and perfectly still. Her lower lip shook. When she blinked, three shining tears left crystal tracks on her cheeks.
She could've looked at the tiny miracles in front of her: my feet, my hands, my fingers, the shape of my shoulders beneath my jacket, my human body, but she only stared at my eyes.
The wind whipped again, through the trees, but it had no force, no power over me. The cold bit at my fingers, but they stayed fingers.
'Grace,' I said, very softly. 'Say something.'
'Sam,' she said, and I crushed her to me."

That is the most beautiful ending ever. Here I was, gearing myself up for this intense goodbye scene between girl and wolf. I mean the whole leaving prints in the snow thing had me sitting there, tears pooling in my eyes, thinking about how much I was going to hate this book since he was going to still be a wolf and the "cure" wasn't going to work. And then he takes my breath away as he approaches her, human. And you know what? I still bawled my eyes out.
